“Peace Unto All” Launches Fundraiser to Restore Damaged Churches and Houses of Prayer in Ukraine

“In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old” (Amos 9:11).
Following the Russian invasion, Ukrainian churches shared the fate of the people. Death and destruction know no denominational or jurisdictional preferences: more than 700 churches and houses of prayer have been destroyed or damaged, with over half of them being Orthodox churches.
We believe that the ultimate sanctuary for Christians is the human being, not a building. It is painful to see how the “church revival” in Russia — in the form of reconstructing and building churches and monasteries — did not lead to genuine healing for people damaged by Soviet propaganda, but instead resulted in the flourishing of an imperial militaristic ideology.
Nevertheless, we believe that restoring the churches destroyed in Ukraine under the pretext of “protecting the canonical church” is a righteous endeavor, regardless of jurisdiction.
We are launching a targeted fundraiser for their restoration with the hope that our contribution will become a step toward restoring justice and achieving reconciliation. We call upon all people of goodwill to lend a helping hand and make their contribution to the restoration of these desecrated sanctuaries.
